Democracy is a kind of government wherein the people are given the power to elect their leaders, and every aspect of the government should be for the people’s own good. This form of government was developed in Ancient Greece, and in our world today, it is regarded by some political science scholars as one of the best form of government that goes hand in hand with preserving the rights of the people. The majority of states in the world today adopt a democratic form of government, but some states are still practicing non democratic forms of government. To help him with his advocacy of persuading states to adopt a democratic constitution, Sujit Choudhry established the Center for Constitutional Transitions. The organization’s primary objective is to generate and mobilize the information about democracy, and support constitution building through the assistance of the top political science experts from around the world. These experts in political science, foreign relations and foreign policies are meeting several times in a year, discussing the scenarios on how they can persuade non democratic states to adopt a democratic government. Sujit Choudhry also made partnerships with NGOs and other political organizations to ensure that more states would change their constitution for the benefit of their citizens. Sujit previously served as the constitutional advisor for emerging democracies in the past. He realized how little the information about democracy is, and the people are not aware of how they can benefit from a democratic government. He established the Center for Constitutional Transitions with hopes that this ignorance towards the best form of government would soon be eradicated.
