Charlamagne Tha God Cancels Mental Health Event Due To Kanye’s Mental Health


On October 17 fans in Town Hall, New York, were excited to attend an event featuring Charlamagne Tha God in a discussion with rapper Kanye West. The event would have been a live TimesTalk on mental health, focusing on Charlamagne’s new book “Shook One: Anxiety Playing Tricks On Me”. With the duo also discussing their fears and anxieties and how to overcome them to find success.

Unfortunately the live event was canceled, with Charlamagne taking responsibility for pulling the plug in an interview with Stephen Colbert on The Late Show. Charlamagne Tha God stated that holding the event at this time would be counter-productive, and that since this is a cause so close to his hearth he was not willing take any risks. Recently the rapper claimed that his previous belief that he had bi polar disorder was in fact a misdiagnoses, and that he has stopped taking his medication. Reportedly the news went over well with Kanye. This comes as no surprise as Kanye has always been candid about his own mental health problems. His admitted to being bipolar, once claiming it to be his superpower.

Charlamagne Tha God’s goal with the book and the event is to raise awareness and peoples understanding of mental health. The book is a follow up to his first novel “The Black Privilege”, which was a huge success. The rapper refused to put out anything that wouldn’t captivate his fans. Mental health and the fight for it’s awareness has brought Charlamagne his most exposure, leading to his success.
